Interest Research

This quarter I pushed myself and tried to draw and paint things I never thought I could. I went outside of my comfort zone and tried new things. I drew a "punk" Ariel from The Little Mermaid, I did an extremely large painting of Elephants. I also worked on a few more of my "acid" pieces. I think what I've learned is that I have a wide variety of interests and I get tired of doing the same or similar things week after week. This isn't really anything I didn't also partially discover last quarter, but I have learned that I can really do anything if I put time into it. If I could start the quarter or course over I might try to stick to one thing and really get good at it but at the same time I am glad that I ended up with so many different pieces. I am particularly proud of the Elephants piece. It took two weeks and a lot of paint. It was tricky to get the shading right and to position the eyes perfectly. I included my surrealist painting in this collage because I was also especially proud of it. It's another one of those pieces that shows me that with time and patience I can accomplish a lot more than I ever thought I could. I am sad that this class is coming to an end but I am thankful that I have gotten into the routine of putting miles on my pencil! (:

  1. Wow, those pieces are really great. I love how unique each one is. I think it is cool that you have discovered that you are capable of more than what you first thought. It is a great feeling when you discover that.

  2. I really dig your art style. I especially like your "acid" pieces because of how geometric they are, and the elephant painting is just too cool. I can definitely tell that you put in time, effort, and patience into each and every one of your pieces.

  3. I do love the painting of the elephants. I also really like your style and how you use so many colors. I think that you are right and that it is cool to have so many different pieces. They are different, but you can tell they are in the same style. Good job!
